Costuming for the Walker Art Center

This past fall, #SoooSweet Design's owner, Jenny, had the privilege to design and construct costumes for renown American social practice installation artist Theaster Gates and the Walker Art Center (https://walkerart.org) on a special project to honor Joseph Beuys (https://walkerart.org/collections/artists/joseph-beuys) and commemorate ash trees in light of the emerald ash borer epidemic sweeping the nation.

This project brought Jenny's passion for forestry, for which she has dedicated countless hours volunteering her time toward, together with designing, sewing, and costuming. She designed and constructed two costumes for a performance art piece that was videoed in Minneapolis, MN. The film and more info will be available at the Walker Art Center soon -- stay tuned and follow @sooosweetdesign on Facebook for more info as it's available.

Theaster's other work is on display in the Walker sculpture garden and in art galleries around the world. He also started a program in Chicago to use ash wood so it is not wasted:
